Demand Charge Reduction
Challenge: Drive down energy costs by cutting demand during peak periods.
Many commercial and industrial customers are currently assessed significant demand charges for power they have no choice but to use during peak demand periods. Similarly, utility districts that have demand charges built into their peak load contracts with generation providers also incur premium fees.
Unlike many residential customers, commercial consumers often cannot reduce energy consumption during peak periods because such critical services as refrigeration or irrigation are not optional.
Demand Energy Solution: Install distributed Demand Shifters™ that charge during off-peak and discharge during peak demand.
Install from 30 kW to 110kW Demand Shifters—or daisy chain several together to meet special or higher requirements—at appropriate commercial locations. Charge the devices during off-peak periods. Discharge the stored energy during peak periods, flattening the load and avoiding demand charges without disrupting critical operations.
Value: Avoid or reduce premium demand charges.
Commercial Demand Charge Program

The Demand Shifter would be installed at a commercial location, charge during periods of low demand, and discharge back into the grid during peak demand periods.
